A Japanese Take on Valentine’s Day — A Sweet Companion to Chocolate

In Western cultures, it is common to give a teddy bear along with flowers or chocolate on Valentine’s Day or birthdays. Bears have long been cherished as symbols of affection, warmth, and the feeling of holding someone dear.

Inspired by this tradition, our wagashi artisans created the Valentine Bear — a seasonal piece of jo-namagashi (traditional Japanese fresh confectionery).

Chocolate may be the main gift. But as a gentle companion that carries your feelings, wagashi offers a quieter, more thoughtful expression. Why not share your sentiments this Valentine’s Day through the refined form of Japanese confectionery?
